VA Medical Center

The eye clinic includes 16 exam rooms, the latest diagnostic equipment and lasers for treatment of various disorders. An eye surgery simulator, VRMagic EyeSi, allows residents to monitor their progress and practice multiple steps of cataract surgery.

The clinic is staffed by five ophthalmologists, a low-vision optometrist, a full complement of technicians and a physician assistant.

VCU Medical Center

Located in downtown Richmond, the VCU Medical Center, which is a Level 1 Trauma Center and ranked the No. 1 hospital in Richmond, is the main teaching facility of VCU Health.

The outpatient ophthalmology service is located on the fourth floor of the Nelson Clinic, and the pediatric and ocular genetics clinics are located in the Children’s Hospital of Richmond outpatient facility. While at the VCU Medical Center, residents also rotate with the Department of Neurology’s Division of Neuro-Ophthalmology.
